I have a 12 week old buff Orpington. Ill start by saying she’s the smallest. Eats a ton and hasn’t grown as much as the other. She has on occasion stood with her tail down. But the last couple days she acted odd. Head lower and feathers puffed. At times she is like that and times she acts normal. She is eating and drinking still. No bloody poop in either space they are in.shes has acted weird with one eye but then opens it normally for a long time too. Nothing wrong by looking at her eye. Today I noticed her face was crazy messy and she looked weird eating. Like it was stuck in her mouth. I had my mom hold her and I cleaned her face with a wet cloth. She had half a black watermelon seed in her mouth under her tongue. I do seedless but sometimes there is a random black seed. I got it out with tweezers. Ton of caked on crumble food on her tongue and under it. At least that’s what it looks like to me. I got a q tip and got the food under tongue and off it as much I could. When I got the food off her tongue looked maybe redder more than pink. I got the best video and photo I could. Just not sure what’s going on with her. No foul smell. Running around picking on my little Plymouth Rock. I have a video on when the stuff was still on her tongue and then pics after I got out what I could to show it’s red to me.

For video, upload to youtube and provide a link, or upload to the BYC Gallery and let us know where to find it.

What do you feed, including treats?

Were you able to remove all the yellow material? Do you think it was all food or could it be mucous?

Canker can also give an appearance like in the photos, but it has a bad smell. Did you notice any more yellow material in the throat or back of the beak?

Can you tell us more about the eye? Do you notice if it has bubbles or a drainage? Does she act like it's bothering her and she's scratching it?

I'd watch to see how she's eating, if she's swallowing o.k. and drinking well and that her crop is emptying.

I would treat for oral Yeast infection. I use Clotrimazole Cream(Excuse The Spelling if Wrong), & ACV water. I had a stubborn case in one bird that took longer then usual to treat earlier this year. So expect cure times to vary abit.

She’s on purina medicated grower. It doesn’t smell. The eye she has been scratching some. The eye doesn’t look bad at all. It may have had something in it. I washed her face and looked better no bubbles or anything visually seen on her eye. I did notice her tongue underneath has a green tint to it. I’m wondering if it is canker. It doesn’t smell but I think I caught it very early whatever it is. There was some stuff in her mouth on the bottom under her tongue towards the back but I really think that was food. I got it with a q tip and when it dried it looked like crumble. But her tongue not all came off and the top of her tongue is red like it shows in the photo but after I posted I looked again and under is yellow/hint of green. I’m taking her to the vet at 4. I did separate her. It stresses her and the other buff out when they aren’t together but if it’s contagious and the other doesn’t have it yet I’d like to keep it that way. I scrubbed their caterers with hot water and dawn. I had tylosin so I put some of that in water bc I don’t really know what it is and I only have that for now. Going to scrub and clean the kennel they stay in today. They go in a dog kenn in the run during the day and sleep in my house while they are getting used to my older girls. The old can see them but not share food or waterer. I’ll check them today too. The other two littles as of now look normal. Normal behavior and normal mouths.
