Help! Tongue stuck in the throat of a baby chick

Just curious - after she passed did the rescue people attempt any type of cursory necropsy to see what exactly the issue was with her tongue? If they were able to open the area up after she died they might have been able to identify the cause. Not every rehab center has the personnel willing or able to do something like that so I can't blame them if they didn't.

I don't think they attempted a cursory necropsy. The lady didn't mention anything like that. She claims that she wasn't able to do anything thing to her because she passed shortly. I did notice she had this blue stain on her beak. It's like if she gave her something blue that stained her beak. I don't know what she gave her but I don't think the lady killed her.

It was just a thought. I was a wildlife rehabber for 40+ years and my curiosity usually got the best of me to find out what caused a demise. As I said, not everyone has the time or ability to indulge that curiosity. I'm sure they did the absolute best they could to save her. I'm sorry you lost her but you did everything you could as well. Sometimes we encounter things that we just can't save in the time we have. Life is like that so just love on the ones you have and remember fondly the ones you don't.

Yeah, I understand and life is like that. I decided to bury her as I didn't want to throw her away.
