So I just noticed today that my chick, Hazel, has a swollen vent. She had pasty putt when I got her, but she's been cleaned up for awhile now. She's about 1 1/2-2 weeks old. I have seen her poop, eat, and drink just fine. What can I do for her? Is she ok?

Btw, her most makes kind of a weird breathing movement. She may be less active than normal, but seems fine aside from that.

Is she eating/drinking o.k.?
Do you have some Poultry Nutri-Drench? I would give her 1-2 drops of nutri-drench a couple of times a day.
Encourage her to drink and give her wet chick feed.

The vent is swollen a bit so you will want to keep a watch to see that she's pooping o.k.
You can put a little coconut oil around the vent as well.

You are not bothering us! We try to help when we can :)

Thanks fully she's eating and pooping fine. Idk if I've seen her drink today, but I've been gone a lot of today.

I currently don't have nitri drench and I'm having trouble finding it. The last time I looked the store was out of it.

The only coconut oils I have are fractioned coconut oil (an essential oil carrier oil) (liquid at room temperature) and outdated normal coconut oil (solid at room temperature) will either of those work?

I'm glad I'm not bothering you :) If you guys ever have questions you can tag me anytime. I'm not sure if I'll know the answer but I'm willing to help

The chick is also pecking at her vent some. Will Vaseline help protect it?

Will it make any of the chicks sick if they peck some off and eat it?

Is she able to poop or is she having a hard time going?
The vaseline won't hurt if the other chicks taste it.
I think she poops fine. Last I saw her vent was clear enough to poop, and the last time I watched her poop, it slid out just fine.

I didn't see her pick it, my mom saw her peck it or pick at it once. But it doesn't look like it's been pecked a lot.

Hey that's great she's pooping:)

O.k. sounds like she may have been preening a little bit.
