One of my SLW chicks has a top beak that overhangs the bottom by about 2mm. Is this ok? Will she have trouble eating? I am really worried about it and hope I don't have to cull her. I don't really think I could do it.

Will she grow out of it? Is there anything I can do about it? Oh please tell me it will be ok.

Sorry for the blurry pics my camera hates me.

Can you post a pic? I know theres beak trimmers that may help. I've never used them. You may even be able to trim it with a pair of toenail clippers... Lets see if anyone else has any ideas!

I've had an Easter Egger with an over hang. She never grew out of it, but she was able to eat and drink without problems, she was lowest in the pecking order because she couldn't peck at anyone very well. We kept her because she was the prettiest thing we ever saw, her name was Lacey because of her laced feathering...

I trim mine with a cat toenail trimmer and no it doesn't hurt them as long as you clip the clear part only. Stay just before the quick. I trim mine every month.
You may also need to trim their nails or they will grow into curly nails and be painful for them ;( IF they are freerange they will stay trimmed on their own. Another thing to keep the beak trimmed is to add a small brick so they can rub on it and file it down themselves.
