A chick hatched last night in the incubator has some yolk and shell bits stuck to its back. I remember hearing something about bacteria being a problem. Do I need to do anything to clean it off?

you can take a papertowel with warm water and just kind of dab it off. I usually wait until they are fully dried out and out of the incubator before I worry about cleaning them up. Leaving the yolk on there can lead to bacteria, but it can also lead to the other chicks trying to eat the yolk and thus pecking the poor thing.
