I will say 100% this was assisted (my 16 month old got the incubator opened).

This chick was on day 23. It only pipped last night but this morning my toddler lifted the top of the incubator and shrink wrapped it.

So about 10am I made sure the chick was able to breath and that the membranes were moist again with aquafore (stay at home order and no Neosporin without pain reliever here).

At about 3pm I notice the edges getting pretty dry. So I went ahead took it back it got it all moistened and the edges unstuck from the chick. Put it back.

About 20 minites later it kicked its way free.

Now it has that trail of what I'm assuming is yolk sac and white goop trailing it.

It's moving though the stuff is wrapped around a foot/ leg.

I'm assuming the answer is leave it be?

The navel is still open but I can't tell from this image if I'm looking at yolk sac or egg waste. Egg waste normally stays inside the egg but occasionally comes out stuck to the chick. If it's yolk sac I would put the chick into a separate container so that it doesn't rupture the yolkd sac on the grate. Some people just use a container lined with paper towels. I use the mug method and pad around the chick with dry toilet paper or paper towels with it's bum still in the bottom of the shell so that it's less likely to be able to kick and tear the yolk sac.

I know it's been a while since you posted this. Does it seem to be egg waste? It may have already fallen off if so.

It seems too be mostly hatching gunk I guess? There doesn't seem to be a big hole or anything.

I haven't pulled it off.
I took baby out only because it was drying around their leg and preventing them from waking.

The chick seems active and healthy

In this image it does definitely looks like egg waste, that's a good thing! It looks like the umbilicus cord is still attached as well and it's pulling on the interior of the navel. It actually looks like it's more red than earlier so I would take tweezers and pinch the cord away from the navel and snip it on the side of the tweezers farthest from the navel. This is to prevent any additional bleeding. Any little part of the cord that is left will dry and fall off naturally. Hopefully the navel will finish closing after that.

Its all trimmed up.
I dabbed a bit of anesthetic on it.
Hopefully that does it

Good job! It's not a terrible herniation so it should heal just fine. My favorite product to use for dabbing on navels is chlorhexidine, triple antibiotic ointment without pain reliever also works well. There are a few other things you can get away with but those are my two favorites because they're very gentle. I would dab it on once a day until you see that it has sealed or started to heal over. I think since this one is small it should probably close over night. Fingers crossed! :fl

Thank you for all your help!
I'll do so and hopefully later have some really cute fluffy chick pictures
