chick won't open its eyes

I had a chick born yesterday that looked like it couldn't open its eyes...i took a cotton with warm water on it and wiped its eyes....bingo they are open!

Sadly this little chick died in the night. So sad. I don't know what happened to it. I had to wash its eye a couple times a day. It was a little smaller than the rest. Makes me sad.
