Hi, I'm new here & was hoping someone might be able to help with a diagnosis &/or advice for treating one of my newly hatched Chicks. She's about 36hrs old now & although she's very bright & alert & can sit up she can't seem to stand or walk, when she tries she just kinda stumble falls to the side opening out her wings to try to balance. She's chirping & will drink a little water when i dip her beak but doesn't seem interested in drinking or eating on her own yet.

Can you upload some pictures of her and her feet?
Absolutely. I'm afraid I'm going to lose her, she's definitely falling behind the other 2 who hatched at the same time & she seems a little weaker, quieter than she was earlier this morning.

Can you get some Poultry Cell or NutriDrench right away and give a couple of drops orally? SaveAChick electrolytes with vitamins would work as well if you don't have those. I would use one of those products that contain vitamins for a few days to see if she perks up. Dip her beak often to get her drinking. Take a small amount of the chick feed and make a paste with water, and dip her beak into it. The crumbles may be a bit big for her to eat for a few days, so you can wet them or grind/crush them.

I've been giving her a slurry of the crumbles mixed with her Magic water[[i mix ACV & a teaspoon of honey with their water the first few days, then just a ACV daily]] & she's taking it eagerly. She's perked back up & is able to stand a few moments at a time but still can't walk & doesn't seem to be interested in food or water until i start hand feeding & watering again. Hopefully the electrolytes & supplemental feeding will continue to help her improve! I really appreciate your advice & suggestions, it's so good to have some help! I've been so excited waiting for these little Lavender Orpingtons to hatch, I've been wanting to add some of these pretty birds to my Flock for years & these 3 are the very first ones I've ever hatched. I'd sure hate to lose her.

I am glad that she is better, but can you get some vitamins today—either chick vitamins (Poultry NutriDrench) or human vitamin B complex tablets? The leg problem can be vitamin-related, but also could be a congenital leg bone problem. ACV really doesn’t do anything, but the sugar may help. You might want to place the chick in a slightly warm padded coffee cup or a wine glass so that it will try to use it’s legs to stand.

It looks like crooked toes. A couple of my chicks had it. It's from a vitamin b deficiency. Just keep what you're doing with the electrolytes (I used Rooster Booster in and the water Brewer' Yeast sprinkled on the feed). You can make a bootie brace out of vet wrap to straighten out the chick's feet. Please keep is updated!
