Hope hatched 2 1/2 days ago with her inner membrane still attached to her belly botton. She is a very small chick. The mass is no longer attached to her and she has no outter issues.
She drank water on her own, eaten a few bites of chick mash, and eaten a lot of fruit flies since she has been born. I cant get her to eat her food! We have given the babies some lettuce pieces, baby carrots (nobody cared for), a strawberry, banana, kale, and a few crickets and fruit flies. The only thing she will really eat is fruit flies. She chases them and eats them until she cant find anymore. I raise the flies for my poison dart frog so they are healthy.
Im assuming she is hungry because she wont stop peeping! If we hold her she usually stops but we cant put her back in her brooder box without a whine fest from her. Seriously, she wont stop. Is there a possibility that she *wants* to be with us and thats why she is mad? If she was hungry wouldnt she still be peeping when we held her? She is warm and acts pretty normal now other than the peeping. The temp under the light is about 100 but she never huddles in one spot to assume if she is hot or cold. Any ideas?
Argh! As soon as I put her in my hair she stopped peeping just now.
