I am new to this forum but have already heard many bad things about the little plastic dome incubator known as the chichbator 9100. I want a small little incubator nothing much that is cheap and fairly easy to use. If I were to hook a digital thermostat up to this incubator does anyone think I could have successful results?

Any thing that you do to improve things is a plus. The incubator you mention must be good otherwise it would not be sold. Remember that you cant expect something premium at an entry level price. You are not a big time breeder yet, that would need the (large and best). Just get it and see how things work for you. Just think of a broody hen, She does not have a thermostat installed in her abdomen. She gets off the eggs on occasion to eat and such. Eggs cool some, but still hatch.
It is calculated that top shelf incubators exceed broody hen hatch rates. Your little incubator will give you some results. . If you progress to larger scale hatching, then you can upgrade.
