Hello I have had some good and bad chicken adventures. First timer and fell for a "deal" buy 2 big bags of pellets and get 10 free chicks - well ended up with 8 roosters! Un fortunately my daughters dog took care of them at about 6 months - leaving one lone Rooster Elvis. Well Elvis was quite friendly until he wasn't! He followed me everywhere and one day boom! he hit me in the back of my thighs and almost knocked me down piercing my leg deeply in several places. Elvis was boxed up and taken to a farm. Well I tried again the next spring with 3 "guaranteed hens" Yep- they were. Un fortunately one got sick and one got out and our new puppy exhausted it. Down to one. Well interesting enough same puppy - 9 months later(2 weeks ago) he shows up ( we live on a ranch and he free roams) with a beautiful white young hen with black speckled feathers around her neck and bigger on tail ( any idea breed?) No injuries! We have no close neighbors and none with chickens - an apology? Well Lulu was thrilled! She and the hen -now named Penny- clucked happily and get along famously! Well I'm just as happy as Lulu with my tiny flock. Glad to be a part of this forum. Chickchick
