I see that there are a few threads like this but her symptoms aren't quite the same as the others. She is about 2-3 months old. She is a Lavender Orpington. I have had her for approx a month. Before she came to me she had never been outside. she is from a reputable breeder though. Here she has free access to the outside.

1) she was ill before, after a few days of oily scrambled eggs and electrolytes she was fine though she has always been a bit of a homebody and prefers a more relaxed style of free ranging.

2) She is stumbling like drunk but still very interested in food. She can wobble in a general direction though

3) Her feces is very runny and has what looks like seeds in it. it didnt look green to me.

4) she is very sleepy and cuddly

Please offer me any ideas that you might have.

what kind of feed do you give her? I think you call your local vet or contact the breeder you got her from. I never hered a case like this. good luck

Thank you. I see that penicillin can treat it but I only have it in liquid suspension. Any idea how I should dose?

Thank you. btw.
It has a chart for horses, cattle, pigs and sheep but nothing noted for chickens. The label reads: Depocillin: Bensylpenicillin procaine suspension mfr std

Can I give it to her via mouth through a syringe or will i have to inject^

I think you should put it in water before she drinks it. Most of these meeications comes in higher concentration, so you need to dilute the solution. Check the dose on the bottle to be sure of what you're doing or you get another ampicilin made for poultry use.

Update. I ended up injecting half a cc of penicillin into her leg once a day. After three days of this my dad (who is a retired pharmacist reccomended I switch to tetracyline which I have in a water soluble solution for oral use for chickens.) on the third day she had already had her penicillin and I also gave her the tetracyline. day four was just tetracycline as was day 5. Day 3 she stood up, and she was walking around on day 4 and five, drinking her tetracycline water and pecking at her food. Today (day six) she was in a deep sleep. She couldnt get up or balance and was shivering. I gave her some more tetracycline via an syringe and another dose of penicillin as she was shaking. She is now able to stand but seems distressed. Today her poop was more substantial that it had been before day three but it still has undigested feed in it. Through out this Ihave been giving her probiotics and stress electrolytes. Any suggestions^ how long until I should give up and put her down^ I dont want her to suffer but she seemed in such great shape yesterday and now this!

Thank you
