18 month old Australorp. Avg/healthy weight. Nothing out of ordinary until this morning, when I noticed she came out of coop with the others, but proceeded to find a place in the shade and lay down, just resting. Even after I threw in a head of lettuce for them to work on, she stayed put. Thought maybe she's just hot (she is my only black chicken), as it was sunny and humid and she's usually pretty laid back anyway. Threw out some mealworms, and she ate a few. Eventually got up to see what I was working on (planting). She'll "talk" with me, and was doing her usual chatter.
A couple hours later, I saw her coming out of the coop, so figured she was just sleepy this morning, but then an hour later I went back out and she was back in her shady spot (she will usually greet me at the gate with the others). Still talking to me and otherwise appeared fine. Got out the mealworms, and she got up for that, but didn't eat any, even though there were some right in front of her.
She laid an egg this morning (positive it was hers, she's the only one that lays that color, and positive it was this morning, not leftover from yesterday).
Her crop feels empty, but not squishy (as of 1PM today - I didn't check it this morning).
Breathing is normal. No crust or discharge on her eyes or beak. Comb/wattle look normal color. Vent feathers are clean. Bottoms of feet look fine.
Did not see her poop, but also haven't seen any abnormal looking poop around either.
Feed is Kalmbach All-Flock. Treats are garden discards (this time of year it's only been lettuce), and a handful of mealworms in evening (shared among 17, not a handful each). All 16 other chickens acting fine. No recent stressors that I'm aware of (other than adding 4 chicks, but they have been fully-integrated for a few weeks now). Weather has been pretty mild (80s during the day). They don't free range, but have access to a large fenced run during the day.
What else should I look for to figure out what's wrong, if the only observed symptoms today are lack of energy and not eating?
