Chicken acting strangely, not her usual self

It's sad when someone has to go. I don't think the roo's attraction will ever stop. If you're in doubt where there could be a break, just splint the whole side of the hen!

Just checking back in. I think Sweetie is back to normal! Yay!

But I also think Roo is still working out his role in the group. He is finally starting to crow, so I guess the hormones are kicking in. And just today, when I added scratch feed to their 2 feeders, which I do almost every day, I saw a full-fledged battle between Roo and my biggest hen, Big Mama. They all always push Roo away from the feeder, so I usually go outside to give him some. When I went outside, the hens followed me, but Roo didn't. That's when I saw the two of them squaring off with their head feathers all puffed out and wings up. Quite the show, but I think that's all it was. When I walked through (between them) they settled down.

Later in the afternoon, they were all outside under the same tree, back to normal.

I guess this is all normal to work out the pecking order? So far no reason to take away the rooster?
