I have a chicken that is almost 2 years old, and today I noticed that it is just jerking it’s head all the time. It stands there and pulls its head back quiet a bit. It’s weird because I haven’t noticed it at all until today. What should I do??

Can you get a video of the movement and post it? It will need to be put on youtube or other host and the link posted here for people to see it. Is it doing all the time, or sporadically? Is the bird acting normal otherwise, eating, drinking, poops are normal?

It looks like it's adjusting it's crop to me. Birds will do that when their crops are full to move things around and help them empty. To make sure all is well, check her crop first thing in the morning before access to food and water to make sure it's empty. It should be empty first thing, and will fill and empty throughout the day as she eats and digests. If it is not empty then, then she may have another issue that is slowing digestion. She also appears to be missing a fair amount of feathers on her rear and chest, so I would give her a good going over for lice/mites, and you may have some feather picking going on by flockmates. How many birds do you have in how much space?

Ahh ok thanks. We are building a much bigger coop right now for more space because it was getting a little tight and we also got 13 new chickens and the old coop definitely wouldn’t have worked with all of those new chickens.
