Greetings from Cantu Mexico,
I am currently chickenless, and RVing, but had Plymouth Rocks in my backyard prior to my wanderlust taking over. I was addicted to be sure. Stranger still, my mother who owned an art gallery, and had never been that into animals, would come to visit my flock, not just to paint, but to chat them up. I do miss having them in m life.
As for how I got here: I have always worked in a strange mix of animal care (Zoologist) and publishing. I wrote a satire called 'Bitch Unleashed: The Harsh Realities of Goin' Country' a long time ago. Yes, there were chicken chapters!
Most recently I have been designing activity books. This started out for super nerdy Life Science types (like me), but then I made a series for Crazy Cat Ladies. One evening at Happy Hour I asked an acquaintance, Amy, who works for MyPetChickens if she thought there would be any interest in 'The Crazy Chicken Lady's Activity Book. Much to my surprise, she was instantly all in!
She helped make the word lists for the puzzles, edit out my chicken-errors and gave all sorts of advice. In addition, she sent me links to her favorite social media pages about chickens. The first of which was Backyard Chickens.
Yes, I have been stalking you all. I got many great ideas for puzzle topics from reading BYC posts. (Thank you for your unwitting participation.) The thing is Amy accidently re-addicted me. The book is out, but I am still pursuing BYC forums and reading all about coops, care, breeds... Are there support groups or meeting for this sort of thing?
