I am so new to this. Was given 5 Hens, for eggs only, (could not kill anything) and one rooster. My coop is 3' x 4' interior space. There are 8 nesting boxes. They have access to the outside runs all day. Never locked in. Run is 30' x 6'. Am getting offered 2 more chickens and am wondering if I have enough room. The run is totally covered to keep them cool in summer including misters, and to keep any predators out. I live in southern Nevada so not too worried about them getting too cold in winter. But will still cover with frost cloth to be sure. So first question. Do I have enough room for two more? Second question. Do I just put them together right away? Or do I have to introduce them first. The introduction part would be kind of hard because I have no area that I can partition off. They were all free range before I got them so hopefully will not have keep separate. Thank you for your time and any advice for this old broad............

No you do not have room for two more.
3 x 4 = 12 square feet....that is room enough for 4 birds max.

Hi and welcome to BYC. This link is extremely useful re: space requirements - http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-much-room-do-chickens-need

As Kiki suggests, it appears that your coop space is already over-crowded, so getting more chickens would not be something i would personally consider.

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/website-announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3/?prefix_id=3

You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

I am so sorry....I went and re-measured. Forgot to include the pop outs for the nesting area. So I can add 2 more feet to the wide of the coop. Does that make a difference. Told you all...I'm old
Can you get rid of some of the nesting boxes?
One nest box is enough for 6 or so chickens.
Can you get a picture of your current setup/coop?
Maybe we can help you figure out a way to make more room.
