Chicken and Duck eggs

My dad has his chickens and ducks together. They have laid their eggs in the same box, first the duck will sit on them and when she gets up the chicken will sit on them. He is worried about what will happen when they hatch. Does he need to separate the eggs?

In my opinion...No.

I've seen it before. a ducking hatched and they both protected it. More the chicken when the barn dogs came around. It will work out..
