I'm new to hatching have only hatched coturnix quail with pretty good hatch rate. My Question is can I put duck eggs and chicken eggs in the incubator at the same time or will the humidity not work because of the different hatch dates?
I have a chance to get duck and chicken eggs at the same time.

I've had good success hatching ducks and chicks at the same time, the only problem is chickens and ducks take different days to hatch. Ducks take 28 days and Chickens take 21 but they both need a three day lockdown period. What I did is set the duck eggs first, then set the chicken eggs 7 days after. Just raise the humidity to what ducks need. It should be fine :)

Good luck!

Thank for the reply, I thought that might be the case but wanted to make sure. What kind of hatch rate should i expect for pekin ducks?
I would like to raise about 6 at a time.

Well, the only ducks I've hatched are mixed, and Swedish. But I guess the hatch rate all depends, on the parent birds, the care of the eggs, and the overall incubation :)

Good Luck! That's the best thing you can do, set more eggs than you intend to hatch. You never know what can go wrong with incubation, but, if they ALL hatch, take note of what you did right, and do it the next time when you want to hatch fewer eggs!

Glad I could help :) :D
