Chicken and Tomatoes

Hi All! So this is my first year as a chicken owner, and i have quickly learned that chickens and tomatoes do not live in harmony.

I am guessing most of you have some sort of fencing to keep your chickens away? Is a simple hardware cloth fence something that would work?

I just put up some chicken wire around my tomatoes. It's flimsy, but mine won't try to cross/get over it.

My chickens peck at the leaves now and them but pretty much leave the plants alone until they see ripe tomatoes.

I have my garden surrounded by deer netting. It works great. I just push it down to step over it, then pull it back up. Had quite the audience while we picked blueberries and raspberries tonight. They got the moldy and bug chewed ones.
