I love having my very own chickens! It's only been 2 day. They are 18 weeks old and they seem very happy to see me---I guess I should say they are happy to get the treats I bring! One very funny thing that happens is at bedtime--before it gets dark--they will be outside scratching, pecking and running each other, I open the gate, walk slowly thru the run and go into the coop, I lean against the dropping board , not saying anything or moving and--one by one they come into the coop and jump on the roost. They look at me by stretching their necks and turning their heads, make funny, little sounds and some even try to roost ON me. But most just get on the roost near me... all becomes quiet with the exception of their little cooing! I stay for awhile, enjoying them.. Then say good night and close the door...
I have two younger EEgersand two smallish Ameracuana and they are becoming my favorites--fast! They will let me hold them and will actually sleep a little. They RIR, BR, BO chase them away--so I sneak them treats, food and fresh water several times a day...
This is more fun than I ever dreamed!
