Chicken Attack...

Last night a Racoon (I assume) knocked the doors off of my Catabwa Converticoop and got to my girls.

Sadly, whatever it was ate most of Rose our dumb but lovable silver laced wyandotte and ripped a chuck out of the hackle area of Sophia our BO. It is covered in feathers I didn't really SEE it until I investigate more but there is a wound there. Should I do something to it?? Antibiotic Ointment in the wound, or just leave it. HELP!!! These are our first city chickens, and our first loss. We are sad, but securing the fort for the nights to come.

OH, hello! So sorry to hear about your attack. I would clean that wound if you can, and pour some hydrogen peroxide on it, then I'd put some neosporin on it. Then I'd give her some Duramayacin in her drinking water, along with some vitamins/electrolites. That will give her a boost and help ward off infection.....

Sure hope she heals for you....
