I have a flock of chickens that I got last spring in one fenced in area and another group of chicks that I just got in May in an adjoining pen. Last week one of the new chicks some how got in the pen with the bigger chickens. The chick was attacked by the other group while we were at work and by the time we got home she was beat up pretty bad. All of the feathers are gone from the top of her head down to about the middle of her back. I sprayed her with Blu-kote right away. Now it looks like there is no skin in this area. She seems to be doing OK otherwise. My question is this, "will the skin and feathers grow back or is she destined to be a bald chick?"

We had this happen to one of our girls. She had a bald racing stripe running from the top of her head down the back of her neck. She was quite a sight for about 2 months. As her skin healed it became pretty dry so we would put Bag Balm on it to soothe it. I wasn't sure if she would ever grow feathers again, but lo and behold she did and she's just as pretty today as she was before getting bullied.
