Hatching
A couple of months ago I lost a New Hampshire Red for several days. I figured I probably wouldn't see her again. Three days after she disappeared I found her in the yard, she was missing a ton of feathers around her neck. It was bloody and I could see her bones and the skin was separated. It was really gross, but she didn't seem to mind and just walked around the yard like nothing was wrong. I doubted she would survive. We used super glue to try to hold the wound together but it didn't work (It has worked in the past when our hens have been attacked). I put her in a dog kennel in the garage with a heater. I also put crushed aspirin in her water. She lived there for about a month and recovered surprisingly quickly. Once she had skin on her neck again, we put her back in the coop with the other hens. I was surprised by her recovery. If you are in a similar situation, I hope this is helpful.
