Feeding Wild Birds

A different tom, Short Beard, is with the hens this morning. He is banded and has a distinctive short, thick beard.

Saw a big flock of starlings in the trees yesterday. I’m not sure what they were doing, they kept swooping around.

Barred Owls have been very talkative and I heard a gobbler a few days back too.

Spring is officially here. I heard a meadowlark today.

I heard a weird "peet" at dusk Thursday. I wasn't sure if it was a new frog/toad or bird.
Merlin said woodcock. It did move rapidly about 600 ft so I think Merlin is right. The county forest preserve has a walk down the road and 2 towns over when they are most active.
