So my mom told me three weeks after the fact (we no longer live at home) that one of our two remaining chickens was attacked by a hawk. I took a look at her and she is really torn up. She is eating and drinking and seems like she is doing well and I know its been a really long time but her wounds look like they were bad is there anything I should do for her? She is eating\drinking but not laying eggs. I am kind of afraid to mess with her, but I am afraid to leave her. She isn't bleeding or anything and she is healing I guess. I am mad that I wasn't told about it before now.

They are amazing creatures and can live through some pretty traumatic events. A picture would help. Make sure the wound it clean, a saline solution can be dabbed on it, if it looks infected treat with antibiotics. trim any feathers away from it so they don't get stuck in the wound, and make sure the other chicken isn't attacking/pecking at it ( which will make it worse, re open it and can lead to death via canabalism)
