Hi! My Barred Rock is almost a year old. Her head is bald and her comb doesn’t look right to me. Another one of my Barred Rocks has a tiny spot balding on her head too. The Rhode Island Reds and White Leghorns look completely normal. They have been together their whole lives. I haven’t seen any pecking or fighting. They are all acting normal. Is this an injury or molting? I’m trying to figure out whether or not I need to separate them or treat it with something.

The roos hold onto their head/neck feathers when mounting. I've read that roos will also pick their favorites so your balding hen is probably being mounted much more often than the non-balding ones, &/or she does not "submit" easily to your roo so it's taking longer, with more effort, when mounting, causing more feather loss
