My DH calls 7:30 "chicken bed time". My chickens go to bed every night at 7:30. Since the Colonel has moved in with the girls he goes into the hen house like he's been doing it all along. Here's some pics.

He (for some reason) wants to sleep on the ladder that leads up to the roost. My chickens roosts are horizontal to the roof and the ladder is leading up to the roosts. He may learn after tonight when he gets pooped on a couple of times that he should go all the way up the ladder instead.

WOW that guy is beautiful!!!! I love those tail feathers. He is just standing guard. Be proud of him. Mine is very handsome, but he hides behind the girls if a bee flies by. We named him Sally. Thats what the local farm boys say picking on eachother....'quit being a sally'

My baby roo was killed by a snake at 5 weeks old, he was the same age as my girls at the time. The day he was killed me and DH went out and bought this Dominique roo as a flock protector. He's over a year old. My girls are 17 weeks tomorrow.

We cant have a roo either and i have 2 so far. Not sure what sex my silkies are yet, but maybe more.
I had one neighbor i thought would not like it so i asked him. Turned out he grew up on a farm with hundreds of chickens and has no problem. So the town wont know about it if the neighbors dont complain

Maybe you should talk to the neighbors.
