Hello friends! So we've expanded our flock just a tiny bit and we've unfortunately gotta weed out a few extra males to keep a 4:1 ratio. I was hoping there might be some backyard mix hobbyists or enthusiasts who might have some insights on which of the new drakes to keep if I wanted some neat phenotypical diversity or traits in new hatchlings. Here's the established flock:

Drake:
1x Rouen (emotionally attached-- gotta keep)

Hens:
3x Rouen
2x Black Swedish
3x Cayuga

And here are the second drake possibilities:
Blue Swedish
Cayuga
Ancona

Or if you've got suggestions for ducks to look into mixing (or even better, pics!), I'd love to hear or see it.

Included is a pic of the newest ducklings in the integration prison (you can see the free ranging Rouen drake checking them out through the hardware cloth)

The Blue Swedish will make ducklings which look like blue or black Swedish with all of your girls.
The Ancona will make all black and white ducklings similar to himself with your girls.
The Cayuga will make all black ducklings with the Cayuga and Rouen hen and black Swedish looking ducklings with the Black Swedish.
My opinion, the Cayuga so you can get some purebred ducklings. Cayugas are considered a “watch” breed so they are more rare (Ancona are too but you only have one).
