Just starting the journey of being a chicken enthusiast! We are trying to find a good place to pick up our first chicks! Any advice?

Where do you live? Do you have feed stores, or Tractor Supply near by? If you go to" where am I, where are you "in the social forum - you can locate and post on your state thread. The people there may know what's in your area.

Glad you have joined us.

TSC has been having chick days for the past 2 weeks, and local smaller feed and seed stores often do as well. Likely there are a lot of breeders in Tennessee. You can try contacting your local Extension office, most publish a bulletin news paper and local breeders often place ads there. You can google your area to locate breeders.

You can post in the buy-sell-trade forums once you have met a post number requirement, I thing 20.

Also, do post in social forum mentioned by drumstick diva.

Good luck on finding the chicks you want.

Welcome back to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Drumstick diva and sunflour have given you some good advice. Also, if you don't mind mail order, you can always order chicks from one of the hatcheries. The larger ones have a big selection of breeds available at very reasonable prices. Some of them require a minimum order of 25 for shipping, but if you order pullets you will have the order form to prove that you ordered pullets and sell of the extras. I've never had any problem recouping my money by selling off the extra pullets. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Do you have a breed preference?

Try coop, they have them out right now in middle TN. I was in Dickson today and they were stocked.

I will be hatching some Bob White quail in about a month if your interested.
