So I have two hens and I've never seen anything like this before they are Eastereggers and one of them likes to be sat on its always the same two does anyone know why it's happening?
That is very strange, but also kinda funny ! If it’s not hurting or bothering either of them then I think it’s completely fine. I’ve never seen or heard of this behavior before though! How often do they do it and how long do they usually stay like that?
It's been going on for a couple of months now I see it going on a couple times a week, there not pecking at each other, the one on top was getting pecking at in the past which is why she has a shield on her back but I've seen it where she will be standing there and the other one will purposely go between her legs and sit there for a good while.
Aahhh, I see. From what I understand based on observation and reading about others’ experiences, chickens will try to duck under or tunnel beneath other chickens when they are pecked at by another hen or are trying to retreat from a rooster. They do this to protect their heads and avoid getting further picked on. Have you noticed the white hen getting attacked or abused by the other birds in your flock? Is there something you’ve noticed that either always causes the hen to duck under the other one or usually/always happens right before she does this?
