chicken behavior

my 4 hens always go to bed before 8 and recently one of the hens goes into the coop by herself and just starts squawking so loud then she walked out for a a few minutes and then does it again. does anyone know what she’s doing that for?

Age?

Sure they’re all hens?

If they’re young, your pullet may be a cockerel and may be trying to call the other chickens in.

May not even be a cockerel. It may just be a bossy pullet saying that it’s bed time.

they are about 8 months and yes! they are all hens, i’ve had to give away my roosters because in my area we are not allowed to have them!! Oh okay, so she’s probably just bossy

Ours did that too. Now they’re all 2 years old and no one listens to her. She goes to bed by herself every night, we call her Old Lady.

We have one too. She used to be named Daisy. Now she's Old Hag.
