How can I discourage Daisy (9 mo old Buf.Orp.) from being broody?The pecking/nipping are making egg collection an experience. Thanks.

A broody hen won't lay eggs till the hormone cycle is broken. The quickest way to do so is to place the bird in an elevated wire bottom cage in order to cool the bird's underside. You can put some food and water in the cage but a truly broody bird won't eat or drink much (once a day). After a couple days, she will have lost the desire.
All the eggs under a truly broody bird will be from the other hens in a flock.

You'll have to cage her away from her nest site to 'break' her broodiness.
