Your vet was correct, Lacey had EYP which led to other issues.
Keep that vet.

I may be the only one who doesn’t know, but what exactly is a herniated intestine?

If it is the same thing as an abdominal hernia in humans ... I had two of them ... OUCH!

Basically the abdominal muscles tear, and the intestine pokes through the ripped muscle ... but not through the skin, which if caught in time ... the intestine is pushed back in, and the muscle is sewn back up ... because mine happened when I was a young man, and was stubborn and too proud to ask for help ... while I had a strong back, my belly muscles couldn't handle it ... so Dr added a gor-tex patch to re-enforce my belly.

If it is not caught in time ... the muscles will eventually pinch off the blood circulation to that section of the intestinal tract, and it dies, it could be just a part of the intestine was stuck, so she could still kinda poop ... but lots of pain.

I'm glad she's not suffering anymore!
