Chicken Blinder questions

I have two young roosters that are starting to get their bearings for mating, but they are a little aggressive in their attempts, chasing every female no matter if its chicken, duck, or guinea. I was thinking of getting them blinders to reduce the number of attacks, at least until they grow out of their hormonal fluctuations.
My main concern with the blinders is that they are attached at the nostrils and I feel uncomfortable putting anything in there for long periods of time.
I have read reviews of people who say that the blinders cause build up of tissue and can cause infection making the chicken weak. I also read that one person noticed the "skin" (or whatever it is called) in the nose area grow around the pegs.

What are your experiences with blinders?

Is it possible to make some that strap around the head and comb instead? Something similar to a horse's fly mask if that is what it takes lol. If it is safer I do not mind having to put it back over their head everyday or so if it falls off either. I had to do it with my oldest rooster's first pair of spur covers and with the hens' aprons.

I have been using the pinless peepers for many, many years. You are perfectly justified in your concern for nare damage with long term use.

While I've never had a chicken experience short term issues from wearing the peepers, recently I had to treat a Cream Legbar for blocked nares due to overgrowth of tissue from the peepers and she was having some sneezing and breathing issues stemming from it.

As for an alternative, what you'd be dealing with would be a chicken shaking their head and using their feet to claw anything off their face you try to put there.

Roosters are such single minded sex fiends that they wouldn't be much more than relegated to being clumsier but not deterred.

Curious how you treated this..and what the outcome was?

Agrees that 'blindering' a cockerel may not help much.

First I cleaned as much black gunk out of her blocked nares as I could with a dental floss pic. Both nares were swollen shut, the right far worse.

I put antibiotic ointment on them, but that didn't cause improvement. Then I began using terramycin ointment twice a day, and the left nare healed and opened up to normal size. The right nare improved enough for her to breathe through it, but the tissue has still remained mostly blocking the opening.

She hated me before this and really hates me now. We've been avoiding each other.
