Chicken breathing hard

I went out to check on the animals and couldn't find one of my chickens. I finally found him stuck between a board and their corn container. I pulled him out carefully, put him in a cage with plenty of straw and a heat lamp. He was breathing really hard and shaking. Does he just need time to calm down? The position he was in had his head under his body.

I think you are very lucky to have found him because he probably couldn't breathe very easily. I found a polish hen of mine today in a similar way, but not upside down, and she was stressed enough. I would watch him closely, treat him for shock, and maybe offer some electrolytes in his water tonight.
