I hatched this chick from an egg I had shipped to me. It was an odd looking chick. Hatched on time, but very skinny looking, and walked with its body extremely upright. Something appears to have happened to him, as I found him with his down feathers under his left wing kinda matted and no longer fluffy. The wing also looked curled and not symmetrical to the other. I thought maybe he got stuck somewhere and hurt his wing, so I tried stretching it out, and he didn’t seem to care or cry out. There’s a temperature probe on a cord that’s suction-cupped to the plexiglass, and a plexiglass wall to prevent the chicks from walking out of the box when the doors are slid open (which I don’t use). It’s possible he got caught on one of those, but I don’t know.
Then I noticed under that left wing, his left knee (?) under there looked out of alignment compared to the right one, as it was much further forward. When I touched his leg, he peeped. He’s standing with his left leg further forward than his right. His stance has changed, as he no longer looks like a little t-Rex walking a head taller than the others.
Does anyone have a clue what to do with him? He was sleeping away from his buddies for the first time last night too. They usually make a chick pile under the ceramic heat lamp and ignore the heat plate.
