It may be a dumb question- to those who know the answer, but:
Can a chicken hatch a turkey egg?

If not, what are the conditions that differ enough to make it impossible?

Thanks!

My buff orphs have hatched turkeys for me and then they will mother them if I leave them with the chickens. Normally I do take the eggs right before they hatch and put them in the incubator.

I tried tucking a couple turkey eggs under a broody bantam and she sat them
for a few days but abandoned them when another hen laid eggs in her nest.

I am sure they can.
I have a little OEGB hen who is tiny tiny and she is trying to brood 9 full sized eggs, funniest sight you have ever seen, more eggs than hen

I just had a tiny little Silkie hatch one turkey egg. She pushed two more out of the nest the first day. I figured she was trying to tell me her little hiney wouldn't cover more than one....lol She is a very good mommy as well.

I have decided when a hen,(no matter breed) goes broody they really dont care about size shape or breed of egg.
I guess an egg is an egg that needs to be hatched.
