chicken brooding

I was wondering if we bought a chick to give to our chicken, who is brooding right now, will she take care of the baby or will she denie her because she didn't hatch from a egg she was sitting on? We can't have a rooster and I want her to have her family if she wants onE. It's heart breaking.

If you sneak in at night and slip a chick or two under her while taking away any eggs she is sitting on, she will likely accept the babies as her own. Hens are great moms, but not too smart at differentiating babies. If she goes to sleep thinking she is sitting on eggs, the wakes up with chicks, she'll think she hatched them. I would wait until after she's been broody for a week or two personally.
