Hello! We live in E. Tennessee and are considering adding chickens to our farm. We are primarily interested in layers and prefer to avoid roosters. We have two small children and I want to stick with breeds that are known for being friendly. We are thinking about having around a dozen birds. We would like this to be a positive learning experience for them. I've been reading for days it feels like and there is certainly a wealth of knowledge out there. We are trying to get a coop built and would love any input some experienced folks might have about what works best and what you would do differently if you were starting over. Looking forward to reading through the forum and finding some more helpful info!
