Hi guys.

We're new to this chicken breeding thing, and our new mum has done something weird. She was sitting on 22 eggs (her own and also some eggs belonging to other hens we think as they're all different colours/ sizes). Six eggs have hatched but we lost two babies who were never really well to begin with. The four remaining are approx 4 days old, and she has now buried her eggs in the nest. They're well under and I am guessing very warm. She is out and about with her babies, but still spends a lot of time on the nest.

My question is whether they will hatch? Should we just leave them there? We're getting more than enough eggs to eat, so that's not a concern, I am just worried about chicks hatching and getting stuck in the hay and unable to get out or something. Any advice would be welcome. :)

Thanks,
Emily.

if you had took the babies and put them in a brooder she would continue to sit. i think she is done or she wouldnt of left the nest. candle them and see if there still good.
