I have a hen who can’t stand or walk that I found in coop this morning on her back. After I left coop I found black bug all over me. I showered then gloved and covered my clothes to return but still black bugs of course. I have readers replies to
Lame chickens and I appreciate the input. Can anything me added and I’d appreciate a response to black bugs

Where are you located in general? Regardless what the black (dark red?) bug are, I would treat the birds with permethrin based poultry dust and completely clean out the coop and spray it down with permethrin based poultry spray then re-bed with fresh bedding.

How old is the hen? Is she laying?
What exactly are you feeding them?

I just asked the question on lame chicken and black bugs. I separated the hen from the other hens in coop to totally disinfect coop. What is best way to disinfect and I put the hen in our garage. I read the hen should be kept warm. If Inhad a heater next to her will this make the black bugs proliferate and I have a mother hen and her 2 babies in garage in another cage. Will they contact the black bugs?

Welcome to BYC. If they are mites, then the others will also have them. Mites can be treated by permethrin garden dust or the equine spray. The spray works well for warm weather, or to treat your coop after removing all bedding. Mites hatch every 5-7 days, so a second treatment should be done after 7 days. Then check again in another 7 days. How old is the lame hen, and what is the temperature?

Mites will suck blood and can cause anemia and eventually death. Another treatment which is more expensive is Elector PSP online. The permethrin dust and spray are available in most feed stores. Permethrin 10 concentrate mixed with water is more economical, and comes in small bottles. It can be mixed in a spray bottle or garden sprayer.

Here is the dust:
