Chicken can't stand. Question about mites and fleas

My chicken just recently got sick. I discovered she had some sort of bug. I am guessing mites or fleas. She can't walk and won't eat or drink. Has anyone had a bird get this sick from them and had their bird recover. I am kind of sad right now and was just wondering what are chances are. Its okay you can be honest, I realize I am probably gonna lose her. She was one of my first chickens my heart is just breaking but, I don't know what else I can do for her. I have treated her for the bugs and the coop. I am trying to give her vitamins but, she is just refusing food and water. Any thoughts?

What did you use to treat her? Try dripping water with electrolytes and vitamins over the top of her beak just a little at a time. She may take some of it in. You'll need to do that frequently until she starts drinking on her own.

You're going to have to pick her up and visually inspect her closely for the parasites to determine whether she has them or not. Look closely around her vent area.

Can bugs make them so weak they can't walk or is it more likely something else is wrong too?

Absolutely! They will suck all the blood right out of her until she's dead. They have to be treated IMMEDIATELY.

I had a little cochin bantam that was severely infested with lice. Poultry lice don't suck blood (mites do), but they lowered her immune system and she developed pneumonia and passed away.

Just try giving her food and making it as appealing as possible. Make mush out of pellets, scratch, yogurt or water, and sprinkle mealworms on it or something. She NEEDS food and water to help get her strength up again. Oatmeal with raisins is a yummy treat too.
