Chicken can't stand !!??

Can you wash her butt...give her a warm soak and feel for an egg?
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to do that tonight. It's getting dark now and im worried that it's too cool to be washing her. I tried to check for an egg but I'm not sure if I'm feeling one or not. I will try and give her butt a warm bath tomorrow.

Have you added any other new birds to your flock (except the baby chicks) in the last few months? Mareks could be a possibility, but it could be something else as well. Time probably will tell. Checking for a stuck egg by inserting a finger an inch inside her vent would be good.

Irecently have been treating an older hen who was losing balance, and falling backward on her hocks or to her side. I suspected Mareks for awhile, but she hasn’t laid in years, so then I thought it might be something inside causing pressure on her leg nerves.

Long story short, she spent a month moving her legs and standing but not able to balance. Then she suddenly started walking fine again, a little wobbly and is getting along well. So I would not give up.

Place her near her food and water. Start some vitamins, such as B complex 1/4 tablet daily crushed onto some food. Make sure whatever you use has riboflavin. If she doesn’t eat well, offer some wet chicken feed and cooked egg.

Here is some reading about Mareks disease, and I hope that is not the problem:

Thank you both for replying. I have only gotten chicks no mature birds have been added to the flock. She does have a messy bottom which I have been meaning to bathe but since it's only recently gotten warm outside I haven't gotten to it yet. I will be reading those links you put it about Marek's disease. Tomorrow I will try to purchase some vitamins for her and also look better for an egg inside. I hope that it's nothing too serious. Also as a sidnote whenever she falls or staggers she tends to fall forward with feet pointing to her rear.

I really think you should bring her inside tonight and soak her and check for an egg before it's too late.

Hey everybody, so sorry for not replying after initially posting this. I ended up separating her just so I could keep an eye on her more easily and to see if she would lay an egg. I checked for an egg inside her but felt nothing. Wednesday she was still unsteady. I hate to admit it, but I didn't really do much for her since I have been absolutely swamped with classes and assignments. However, by Thursday she was walking fine and I put her back with the rest of the flock. I am still keeping an eye on her but she was walking fine yesterday and today. I feel absolutely terrible for not taking care of her like I could have and am just happy that she seems to be back to normal.
