So I finally talked the hubby into letting me get my first chicken! What was supposed to be four ended up being 17, which quickly turned into 95 lol. Needless to say this forum has been an amazing resource that I have landed on time and time again whenever I had questions!
This is the first time I have felt I had something worthy to post, so here it is, my first contribution to BYC. I hope you all enjoy! This is my 3 month old cockerel Goose doing his card trick. Enjoy smile.png

@CheepTricks That is a pretty cool trick. I watched it a couple of times. I've seen videos of chickens who are trained to differentiate colors and/or shapes, but i still can't figure out the card trick. LOL I would love to see MORE card tricks with the amazing Goose. By the way, I like your avatar.

Also you can insert Youtube videos right in the reply box by clicking on the video clip icon ( at least on computer, not sure about mobile device).

Thank you so much!!! I've got an idea to make it even trickier. I'll be sure to post it when I get it down :)

Love the card tricks wonder just how long it takes to teach a chicken one trick. Don't think I would have the patience. It does show they are capable of remembering what is the right choice, and how to react when the choices change.

It took him about 30 seconds to pick out a coloured shape without fail. Then I moved onto cards. I worked with him every morning for about 2-5 minutes for two weeks, not every day, so I'd say no more than 30 minutes total. He never misses!
The key is finding a chicken that's interested, working with treats, when the chicken is into treat time, and stopping before he loses interest. Now he sees the cards come out and looks for the target because he knows there's bread involved. Goose LOVES homemade bread lol.
I'll be sure to post his next trick, it will definitely confuse you further haha. I love when I show people and they think there is a crumb on the card or something... :P
