ASAP!!

One of my older hens (3-5 y.o) was snatched up by my dog, i got there in time and stopped it from getting killed, ive checked on her again and it seems like shes having trouble breathing, the sound in her lungs is hard to describe but it sounds like phlegm, i know it may be blood. I've put her in a box with a bit of warm water. Is there anything i can do??

If there is any way to get the blood out off her lungs, get them out. It may be close to calling it. Is her comb starting to become purple?

Welcome to BYC. Sorry about your chicken. She may have been crushed or suffered a wound that has punctured an air sac. They have 9 air sacs throughout the body, and their bones are hollow, so a puncture wound can easily cause respiratory distress. Are there any wounds around her neck or crop. Can you find any wounds or any air under the skin that may make her look puffy? Pictures may help.

Try to keep her quiet in a warm spot inside the house, since she is probably in shock. Vetericyn Wound Spray, weak betadine, or saline can be used to clean the wound. Plain Neosporin antibiotic ointment can be applied to wounds twice a day after drying them. When she seems stable you can offer sips of water from a small cup, and offer wet chicken feed as well, but water is much more important at first. Poultry NutriDrench can be given a drop or two daily until she is esting well.
