Be careful using aromatics on avian species. They are very sensitive to those, generally.

You can't know if your bird is a carrier without testing or unless it makes another one ill and you're sure that's what happened. Since you can't know unless you test, you'd have to assume your hen is a carrier if she recovers and act accordingly.
