Here it’s now apparently ok to kill someone who turns up unexpectedly at the front door.…I think you're thinking of the Right To Roam in Scotland? English and Welsh land access laws are much more restrictive.
About 99% of what I think I know about life in the UK and the Republic of Ireland is from reading murder mysteries, so there’s a certain slant to my understanding of laws and social conditions.
