Chicken coop and building a large green house Cheap.

Hello I am Debbie and I am new here.

I have lived in the south all my life and Due to a divorce I am moving to Indiana. I need info on building a chicken coop the will keep my laying hens safe year round even during the winter months. My plan is to purchase 12 laying hens. I was told Rhode Island​

Reds Lay Brown Eggs.

Also I need advice on building a large green house to grow vegetables,fruits and herbs year round. I am planing on adding solar panes to my house is that a good option for both the chicken cop or greenhouse Greenhouse must feed 5 adults and 2 children. I am looking at in the future going 100% self-sustaining. Can any of you out there give me some advice or guide me. Like most people out there I am tired of outrageous prices and chemicals and not knowing what is in the food In eat.

Go up to the search bar and type in greenhouse design ... I just did that and you will find some good ideas there. We have rhode island reds (sold that way, but actually production reds) and yes, they lay brown eggs.

Please check out the Coops section above. Also I would suggest you join your state thread. Just put Indiana in the search box and it will pop up. You will be able to get good information about getting your birds through the winter, etc. what predators to look out for and so on. Please do check out the predator threads as well. Good to know all this before you have the birds.

Sorry I don't have any info on building cheap. Nothing seems to be cheap anymore. Sometimes on Craig's list you can find coops people are giving away, or dog runs which would make a good basis for a chicken run.
