chicken coop and run?

In about to start keeping chickens but im a little confused as to where to place coop/run?On grass or earth?very confused!

If, you place the run on grass, it will become dirt. Chickens will strip it to bare ground.

I put my coop on the grass, which became bare earth after a while.
